In this research we seek to analyze the Brazilian food safety arrangement through a historical and legislative perspective. In particular, we seek to: - discuss the evolution of the legislation, - address the main mechanisms that have been used by the country in order to guarantee public health through food safety. - discuss the legal organization of public regulatory agencies and its exercise in Brazil - present and discus important cases on food safety that have occurred in the country.
