ACS Student Chapter of Green Chemistry at UFG

This extension project proposes the formal establishment of an ACS (American Chemical Society) Student Chapter of Green Chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry (IQ) of the Federal University of Goiás (UFG). The initiative builds directly on UFG’s commitment—signed in July 2022 under the leadership of Prof. Sumbal Saba—to the Beyond Benign Green Chemistry Commitment, which reflects the institution’s dedication to embedding the 12 Principles of Green Chemistry across teaching, research, and community engagement. The central aim of this project is to extend green chemistry education beyond the university campus to local schools, public communities, and partner organizations throughout the Goiânia metropolitan region, while simultaneously deepening the culture of sustainability within UFG itself. By anchoring these efforts within a formally chartered ACS Student Chapter, the project ensures continuity, professional standards, and alignment with the global chemistry community.
