SpinDynSense: Magnetoimpedance and Spintronic Pathways for Advanced Thin-Film Sensors
Descrição
The SpinDynSense project aims to develop advanced sensors based on ferromagnetic thin films, exploring magnetoimpedance (MI) and ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) phenomena at high frequencies. The main objective is to investigate growth methodologies alongside structural, magnetic, and dynamic properties of highly spin-polarized alloys, particularly Co₂FeAl and CoFeB, integrated into coplanar waveguides (CPW) fabricated via lithography. Direct integration of magnetic films onto CPWs is expected to enhance dynamic signal responses, enabling novel architectures for spintronic devices in radiofrequency applications. Thin films will be deposited by magnetron sputtering in multilayer configurations, with careful control of magnetic anisotropy and the Gilbert damping parameter—key factors for ultrafast sensing and spin-injection-based technologies. To ensure electrical insulation between the magnetic layers and CPWs, dielectric materials such as SiO₂ and BaTiO₃ will be incorporated, also opening opportunities for future piezoelectric functionalities. Characterization will combine structural (AFM, SEM), magnetic (VSM), and dynamic techniques (FMR, VNA-FMR, MI), covering a broad range of fields and frequencies. Integration with electronic systems will be carried out through international collaboration (UFRN, SDU, USACH, and the University of Ngaoundéré), aiming at devices capable of detecting terrestrial magnetic fields, abrupt variations, and potential geomagnetic phenomena.
